Robinson Vasquez Montes

Author | International Attorney | Safety Executive | Latter-day Saint

Robinson Vasquez Montes bridges Latter-day Saint covenant theology and AI alignment. International attorney, safety training leader, and author of Covenant Alignment and Prepare My People for the Singularity.

Robinson Vasquez Montes writes at the intersection of Restoration theology, artificial intelligence, and existential risk. Born in Lima, Peru, he graduated cum laude in law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru before practicing as an attorney specializing in labor and construction law and serving as a Public Notary of Lima until 2007. He then moved to the United States, where he earned a Master of Comparative Law from Brigham Young University and an MBA from the University of Utah. Since 2012, he has applied his legal and business perspectives to the principles of behavioral risk management in high-consequence environments, helping to create safety training programs and delivering bilingual safety training to more than 40,000 workers across the United States and Latin America. His professional formation rests on a single conviction: barriers alone do not change behavior — only internalized values do. That conviction is the thread connecting his work in roadway construction safety to the argument of this book. In 2021, he published Prepare My People for the Singularity, an early examination of AI's existential risks. Covenant Alignment is the first volume of the five-volume Mighty Angel Series, which extends that inquiry onto theological ground, proposing that the framework AI researchers have been searching for may already exist within the Restored Gospel. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 2001, he lives in the Washington DC metropolitan area with his wife, Ana, and their children.

For over two decades, Robinson has trained tens of thousands of roadway construction workers across the United States — in English and Spanish — to recognize hazards, follow protocols, and return home safely. That experience taught him something about risk that most AI researchers have never considered: you cannot protect people with rules alone. Protection requires relationship, mutual commitment, and a shared understanding of what is at stake. That conviction drives Covenant Alignment.
